Axis of Evil and the Axis of Weasel

I've long been making the point that the "cut and run" posturing by the Democrats might be a political stunt, but not a harmless one as it hurts morale and inspires our enemies.  I've also been making the case in several posts this past week about the Axis of Evil and the danger it represents.

First, a new poll is discussed in The Washington Post which is devestating to the Democrats (except Joe Lieberman):

Democrats fumed last week at Vice President Cheney’s suggestion that criticism of the administration’s war policies was itself becoming a hindrance to the war effort. But a new poll indicates most Americans are sympathetic to Cheney’s point.

Seventy percent of people surveyed said that criticism of the war by Democratic senators hurts troop morale — with 44 percent saying morale is hurt “a lot,” according to a poll taken by RT Strategies. Even self-identified Democrats agree: 55 percent believe criticism hurts morale, while 21 percent say it helps morale.

The results surely will rankle many Democrats, who argue that it is patriotic and supportive of the troops to call attention to what they believe are deep flaws in President Bush’s Iraq strategy. But the survey itself cannot be dismissed as a partisan attack. The RTs in RT Strategies are Thomas Riehle, a Democrat, and Lance Tarrance, a veteran GOP pollster.

Their poll also indicates many Americans are skeptical of Democratic complaints about the war. Just three of 10 adults accept that Democrats are leveling criticism because they believe this will help U.S. efforts in Iraq. A majority believes the motive is really to “gain a partisan political advantage.”

Ouch that's gotta sting Howard.  It's so bad that Ben Stein in the American Spectator wonders if the Democrats even want us to win.

Back to the Axis of Evil.  I've been commenting much the past week on Iran's nuclear program as well as the EMP threat.  Today Powerline observes this segment in the German magazine Der Spiegel:

[A] leading German newsweekly reported that Iran has offered North Korea oil and natural gas as payment for help in developing nuclear missiles.

A senior Iranian official traveled to the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, during the second week of October to make the offer, Der Spiegel magazine reported yesterday, citing unidentified Western intelligence sources.

It was not clear what North Korea's response was, the magazine said.

I've already posted on how the North Koreans and Iranians have colluded on an underground tunnel system.
